Charlene L. (Swartz) Barthel

Charlene L. (Swartz) Barthel, 69, of Etters, and formerly of Marysville, passed away on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, at UPMC, Harrisburg. Born Saturday, October 9, 1954, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Forrest A. and Shirley L. (Swartz) Fenstermacher. She was married to Paul C. Barthel for over 52 years.

Charlene found great fulfillment in her role in customer service, where she not only served but formed genuine connections with each person, knowing them by name and treating them like family. Outside of work, Charlene found happiness and companionship in her hobby of bingo, where she reveled in laughter and camaraderie, sharing moments of excitement and friendship with fellow players. Charlene found her greatest joy in the loving embrace of her family, who were the center of her universe and brought endless happiness and meaning to her life. Her radiant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever endure.

In addition to her husband, of Etters, she is survived by a daughter, Tammy L., married to Scott Wilbert Sr., of Etters, and a son, Paul C. Barthel Jr., married to Theresa, of Wormleysburg. Also surviving are three grandchildren, four great grandchildren; four siblings: Sandra L. Fenstermacher, of Newport, Sherry L. Fay, of Annville, Vickie L. Hardy, of Falmouth and Forrest A. Fenstermacher Jr., of Newport. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Frances A. Fenstermacher.

  3. I known Char just about my whole life met her when she was just dating Paul. I considered her a big sister and Paul A big brother she will be missed deeply. But we will see her again in Heaven
